Blue's Reading Time Activities will help young children learn to read. With this CD-ROM, kids help Blue write The Big News Gazette. Purple Kangaroo, Mailbox, Baby Bear, and new friends such as Periwinkle, are all waiting at the library. Find the missing words for Fan's story, match up the words to the pictures in Dot's dictionary, and more. Play all five learning activities and collect stories for the newspaper. This product strengthens word recognition, listening comprehension, and early reading skills in children ages 3 to 6.

Hey, kids! Let's publish a newspaper! That clued-in pooch of Nickelodeon TV fame and her human sidekick, Steve, decide they're going to make the upcoming editions of the Big News Gazette--with your help. And where better to start than the library? Blue's familiar friends are already laying out the newspaper, but they need five articles to fill its last five pages. Inside the library, kids can help Blue bone up on vocabulary by matching missing words in the Picture Dictionary. Blue joins Periwinkle, Green Kitten and Purple Kangaroo who are illustrating stories in a simple activity that practices reading comprehension skills--and also produces needed newspaper stories. Outside the library, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper and little Paprika invite Blue to play in their word match card tournament--whose results can be reported in the newspaper. Using action-word cards found along the way, Blue also can investigate the nearby neighbourhood for stories. There are five fun activities altogether that encourage fundamental reading skills while getting the newspaper published. Nice graphics and video segments add to this program's style and approach that should prove engaging for any beginning reader--and especially for young Blue's Clues fans.
